The Itinerary

The trip started with a few days in Zanzibar exploring Stone Town and Jozani National Park. I then flew to Arusha, which  served as a jump-off spot for safaris in Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Arusha National Park. Next I flew from the Kilimanjaro Airport to Kigali, Rwanda. I visited the Kigali Memorial Centre, which in addition to honoring the victims of the Rwandan genocide in 1994, serves as a haunting reminder of the cost of ignorance and inaction from the global community when a genocide is occurring- quite a sobering and humbling experience.

I then made my way to Southwest Uganda and spent some time in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park climbing Mt. Sabinyo and tracking golden monkeys. Lastly, and what was certainly the highlight of the trip, I spent two days observing the Kahungye and Nkuringo gorilla families up close in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

I invite you to explore some of the stories and photos from the trip by perusing my online journal. Enjoy!
